WTF is HTML5 and Why We Should All Care (Infographic)

Here is quick summary:
HTML5 is a major revision of HTML intended to reduce the need for proprietary plug-in based technologies such as Flash.  The big tickets items included in HTML5 are:
01.Canvas Element – for on-the-fly rendering of visual images without plug-ins
02. Video Element – for embedding video without plug-ins
03. Geolocation – to get users’ location info from WiFi towers and GPS
04. Offline Web Apps – to interact with documents (eg Mail) without an external client even while offline

Btw, Ian Hickson of Google is the editor of the HTML5 specification! :)  So no surprise that among browsers, Chrome leads the pack in terms of HTML5 readiness (86%), with Safari and Firefox close behind (high-70s).  IE variants are woefully unprepared (26%).

IE’s incompatibility might affect us – a majority of users are still on that browser, hence our migration towards more cutting-edge products could be impacted.  However, I suspect this development will also drive faster adoption of the newer browsers by users.

It showcases the capability of html5.
